Will a 60x90 inch cloth fit my table?
The overhang on each side is called the drop. Subtract your table's width from 60 and its length from 90, then halve each result: that is the drop you will get along the sides and at the ends. A drop that reaches roughly the top of the chair seats reads as relaxed and everyday; a longer drop looks more formal; a very short one can look skimpy and rides up when people sit down. Measure your own table before ordering rather than going by how many people it seats.
Red wine spilled on it. What do I do right now?
Lift any solids first, then blot rather than rub, and rinse the area with cold water before it dries. Cold water on a fresh stain does more than any product on an old one. Cotton absorbs liquid rather than repelling it, so a spill goes into the fibres quickly, which makes speed the most important factor. If a stain sets before you can treat it, an oxygen-based product is the safe choice on a coloured cloth, since bleach-based removers will strip the dye along with the stain and leave a pale patch.
How do I wash it without it shrinking?
Wash cool, not hot, and tumble dry on low as the brand says, because heat is what shrinks cotton. Washed on a cool, gentle cycle and dried on low, it shows no noticeable shrinking, even after washing it several nights running. Take it out of the dryer as soon as it finishes; that also keeps creases down.
Can I use it on a round table?
Not well. This is a rectangular cloth, and a rectangle on a round or oval table hangs unevenly however well it is sized, with long points at the corners rather than an even drop all the way round. If your table is round or oval, look for a cloth cut to that shape instead.
Will the colour fade after repeated washing?
It holds up well. The colours stay vibrant and do not fade, including after repeated trips through the washer and dryer, which points at good dye quality on real cotton. Following the care instructions, especially washing cool and avoiding bleach, protects that further, since heat and bleach are what typically strip colour from dyed cotton over time.
Does it come with matching napkins or placemats?
No, you get the tablecloth on its own. Maison d' Hermine offers a coordinating range in matching designs, with napkins, placemats, table runners, aprons and kitchen towels, sold separately, if you want a fully matched table.
