Rinse the tray under hot water for a moment and dry it. A warm tray starts the thaw faster.
Put the frozen food on the tray in a single layer, with as much of it touching the metal as possible.
For thicker items, re-warm the tray and turn the food over after about 45 minutes so both sides thaw.
Cook the food as soon as it has thawed, then wash the tray.

Wash the tray after every use, as it has held raw meat. Put it in the dishwasher to clean the silicone border thoroughly.
Thick trays and air gaps in packaging slow the thaw. A thin freezer bag pressed flat against the metal works much better.

Its limits come from the same design: it only works on the face touching the metal, so thick cuts need flipping and whole birds are beyond it. The silicone border is useful but adds to cleaning, and some owners would like a larger tray. For anyone who regularly forgets to take dinner out of the freezer, it is a cheap, simple fix.
