Wash the tray by hand or in the dishwasher and dry it.
Place it on a flat surface at room temperature, away from the hob and direct sunlight.
Put thin, flat frozen items directly on the plate, with as much surface touching as possible. Remove bulky packaging first.
Turn thicker pieces over part-way through, and cook the food promptly once it has thawed.
